TETRATHLON

Tetrathlon is a sport requiring skill and physical endurance. It includes four events: riding a mount over a course of obstacles, shooting an air pistol, running cross country and swimming. Points are awarded in each event, with the overall winner scoring the highest total for four events. Tetrathlon is an individual sport, rather than the team competitions of the other Pony Club disciplines.

Tetrathlon Rally took place July 3-4, 2004 and Antietam sent one member, Mitchell, who competed in the Senior Girls division
The rally was held at a nice facility not far from Baltimore, Shawan Downs, with the swimming at Goucher College. Mitchell and Motley started out the riding in the Senior Girls division (max height 3'7") with a clear round, although minor time penalties put them in second place for riding. Shooting and Swimming followed, and Mitchell placed 4th in both of those phases.
A great competitors party was held Saturday evening, then back for running on Sunday. The running distance was increased this year to 3000 meters, which is almost 2 miles! Of the five senior girls, 3 of them run cross country for their schools, so they had the advantage. Mitchell finished 5th in running, and fourth overall. This is a fun rally, all of the families involved are great and everyone cheers for everyone during the different phases. We recommed it to everyone for next year (although Mitchell really missed having coach Marty's encouragement and advice)!
